Missionary Training Center March 11, 2013

WE ARE HERE IN THE MTC
I don't think I was quite prepared for what to expect.  We hear all the "trite" expressions of how good the MTC is.  But as we drove through the guard gate entering the parking lot and the guard greeted me with "hello Elder" ( I guess recognizing by our dress that we were there to be missionaries), and then I told him that I was just dropping my wife off and would pick her up in two years.  He laughed and told me to park over there by the main enterance to the building and then leave everything in the car and go in for the preliminary registration.  I found a parking place down the way and got out of the car and helped Becky out and started walking to the entrance.  It was then that it "hit me".  I suddenly realized that I was really entering the MTC, not as a visitor, but for the real thing.  A Spirit of peace and love, and everything else related to a testimony of the restored Gospel flooded over me and I found tears in my eyes, slightly blurring the entrance to the building.  I firmed up and we went in, and were greeted by the neatest lady.  The same feeling came back as she pinned the missionary name tag on Becky and then put mine on my lapel pocket.  It was "all down-hill" after that.
This has been one of the best days of my life.  I want to tell you that the Spirit of the Lord is throughout the whole building and the whole  experience of the MTC.  I am so proud of Tyler and Michael, and all the others that have served, and now hope that ALL of our grandchildren can have this experience.  What a way to start off their adult lives, to really put things into the proper perspective and priorities.

  1. I've been reading your blog backwards, and now I'm at the beginning. What a privilege it is to read of your experiences on your mission. Thank you so much for sharing! I want to grow up to be just like you! ;)
